I met with my baker today

I met with my baker today.  You know when you meet someone you just connect?  Well that's how I felt with Fi.  She is so creative and like me doesn’t like to settle for second best.  She worked for many years in a famous bakery in East Belfast that belonged to her mum.  Then after bringing up her kids went back to Art College and is a fine artist.

Fi will be working for me part-time baking tray bakes, buns and desserts.  When I arrived at her house this morning she casually made soda bread while firing out some ideas on introducing old tray bakes and cakes back into Bangor.  "Retro Tray bakes" will be on our menu and these ideas along with tasting her delicious home baked soda (on a griddle - who do you know does that?) made Fi an answer to prayer and perfect for The Studio Café.

We had a real giggle at some of the names of these retro buns.  Fi explained that many of her customers in the bakery came from the Malone Road and these rather polite ladies would totter in on their high heels with hand bags swinging and ask for half a dozen Sinful bites.  Love it!  I will be doing a tasting session on 9th February and looking forward to trying out the Sin in these bites!
